Raj Patel, a guest at the Council last month, according to a recent report in The New York Times, has been named the messiah Maitreya by the religious sect Share International.

In an interview with The New York Times, Patel said, “It’s incredibly flattering, just for an instant. And then you realize what it means. People are looking for better times. Almost anything now will qualify as a portent of different times.” Read the full article (“In Internet Era, an Unwilling Lord for New Age Followers”) here.
